The world's most expensive flower: the Juliet rose (£3 million)
Roses were originally common flowers in life, but the Juliet rose is different, and it is said to have taken nearly 10 years to cultivate a flower with a unique shape and color. At first glance, the Juliet rose does not look very different from ordinary roses, but a closer look will be able to reveal that its petals are very special, although the shape is cup-shaped, compared to ordinary roses, the Juliet rose has a dense number of internal petals, up to 90, all gathered toward the center, which looks more gorgeous and elegant, and the core of the flower also emits a light tea smell.
The Juliet rose's breeder, Austin, spent nearly 10 years and millions of pounds trying to produce a rose that was extremely disease and heat resistant and perfect for cut flowers. But in the end, Austin's efforts were not in vain, and in 2006, when the Juliet rose was first shown at the Chesil Flower Show, it commanded an exorbitant price of £3 million for its superb quality.
Although not as expensive as the world's most expensive Christmas tree, the Juliet rose has many accolades, and in 2005, with a golden yellow fading to rose red, the Juliet rose was also awarded the AASR rating in the Rose Competition, thus making it the most expensive flower in the world. Although cultivated, the Juliet rose comes in a wide variety of colors, the most dominant being pink and apricot, of course.
Why are Juliette roses so expensive
The reason why the Juliet rose is so expensive is due to a number of factors, not only because of its high ornamental appearance, but also because it is a once-in-50-years cut flower variety in Austin's moon garden, and when it first appeared in flower shows, the number was also relatively rare at the time, which is why it was very expensive. But now, with continuous breeding and introduction, the price of Juliet, the most expensive rose in the world, is becoming more and more rationalized, although it is difficult for the average person to keep it alive.
