1. Nile River The Nile is a river that flows through eastern and northern Africa, flowing from south to north into the Mediterranean Sea, with a total length of 6,670 km, making it the longest river in the world. In 2007, scholars from Brazil claimed that the Amazon River is longer, but this has not yet been universally accepted by the global geographic community. The Nile has two major tributaries, the White Nile and the Blue Nile. The Blue Nile, which originates in the Ethiopian highlands, is the source of most water and nutrients for the lower Nile, but the White Nile is the longest of the two tributaries.
2. Amazon River Located in the north of South America, the Amazon River is the second longest river in the world, with a length of 6,440 km. Since there is no definite method of measuring the length of the river, the length of the Amazon River has many different opinions, one of which is the common 6,400 km. The volume of the river is 219,000 cubic meters per second, which is several times greater than the sum of the other three major rivers, the Nile (Africa), the Yangtze (China) and the Mississippi (United States), and is equivalent to the flow of about seven Yangtze rivers, accounting for 20% of the world's river flow; the basin area is 6,915,000 square kilometers, accounting for 40% of the total area of the South American state; the number of tributaries exceeds 15,000.
3. Yangtze River The Yangtze River is the third longest river in the world and the longest in Asia, with a length of 6397 km. It originates from the southwest side of the Tanggula Mountains in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the "roof of the world", and is the mother river of the Chinese nation. The main stream flows through 11 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government of Qinghai, Tibet, Sichuan, Yunnan, Chongqing, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Anhui, Jiangsu and Shanghai, and is injected into the East China Sea to the east of Chongming Island, with a total length of 6397km, which is longer than the Yellow River (5464km) by more than 800km. The Yangtze River also ranks third in the world in terms of water flow, after the Amazon River and the Congo River. But while the Nile River basin spans nine countries in Africa, the Amazon River basin spans seven countries in South America, and the Congo River basin spans seven countries in Africa, the Yangtze River is unique to China.
4. Mississippi River The Mississippi River is the largest river in the United States and the fourth longest river in the world, with a total length of 6,262 km. If the Upper Mississippi River, which originates from Lake Etaska in the northern part of the United States, is the source of the river, the total length is 3767km; if the source of the Missouri River is Lake Redrock, the total length is 6262km. It is the river with the longest flow, the widest basin area and the largest volume of water in North America, located in the south-central part of North America. The river has an average annual sand transport of 495 million tons. The watershed belongs to one of the three major black soil areas in the world. Usually originated in the Rocky Mountains in the western United States, the Missouri River tributary RedRock (located in Montana) as the source of the river, then the total length of 6021km, ranking the world's rivers in the 4th.
5. Yenisei River The Yenisei River originates in Mongolia and flows northward to the Kara Sea, and its basin covers most of central Siberia. If we take the Selenge-Angara River as its source, the total length is 5,539 km, which is the fifth longest river in the world. The Yenisei is the largest river in Russia in terms of volume, one of the great rivers of the world, and one of the three major Siberian rivers flowing into the Arctic Ocean (the other two are the Obi and the Lena). It is located in northern Asia, dividing the Western Siberian Plain from the Central Siberian Plateau, with the plain to its west and the plateau to its east, and is the most abundant of Siberian rivers as well as the largest river flowing into the Arctic Ocean. The flow is slightly shorter than that of the Missouri-Mississippi River, but the flow is 1.0783 times greater than that of the former.
6.Yellow River Yellow River is the second longest river in China, length 5464 KM. big river in the north of China, total length about 5464 km, basin area about 752443 square kilometers. Yellow River originated in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, Qinghai Province, the Bayan Khara mountain range of the Zhaqu, the northern foothills of the Kariqu, and the Xingxu sea west of about the ancient Zongliqu, is "a few" character shape. From west to east flow through Qinghai, Sichuan, Gansu, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Henan and Shandong 9 provinces (autonomous regions), and finally into the Bohai Sea. The main peak of Animaqing Mountain on the left bank of the Yellow River is 6,282 meters above sea level, which is the highest point in the Yellow River basin, with snow on the top all year round, and a great variety of scenery with undulating ice peaks.
7. Obi River The Obi River is located in the west of Siberia and is the third largest river in Russia and a famous long river in the world with the length of 5410 KM. the Obi River, which originates from the Ertzis River in China, belongs to the Arctic Ocean water system. the Biya River and the Katon River, which originate from the Altai Mountains, converge in the southwest of Bisk in the Altai Territory to form the Obi River. the Obi River curves to the north and finally flows eastward into the Arctic Ocean. The Ebi River is 3,650 km long, with the Irtysh River as its source and 5,410 km long. The basin covers an area of 2.97 million square kilometers. The basin is the main transport channel of Western Siberia, with many tributaries and abundant water, which can be navigated upstream for about 190 days and downstream for about 150 days per year, and many goods go in and out along the northern sea route through the Arctic Ocean, and the economy is more developed in history.
8. Mekong River The Mekong River originates from the northeast slope of the Tanggula Mountains in China and is called the Lancang River in China. With a total length of 4,909 km, the Mekong's main stream is the most important transnational water system in Asia and the seventh largest river in the world; the main source is the Zhaqu, which originates in Zhaoduo County, Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, China. It flows through China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam, and flows into the South China Sea in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The basin is a member of the Mekong River Commission except for China and Myanmar. The Mekong River has poor navigational capacity due to its highly variable flow during the dry and rainy seasons and the presence of many rapids and waterfalls in the main stream. At present, only the lower 550 km of the Mekong is navigable.
9. Congo River The Congo River, also known as the Zaire River (meaning "big river" in dialect), is located in west-central Africa. Its total length is about 4640 kilometers and its basin area is about 3.7 million square kilometers, making it the second longest river in Africa, second only to the Nile. The upper Luaraba River originates in the Zaire Shaba plateau, the farthest source in Zambia, called the Kimbishi River. It is called the Congo River after it flows north out of Boyoma Falls. The main stream runs through the Congo Basin in a large arc, crossing the equator twice and then injecting into the Atlantic Ocean, flowing through Angola, Zambia, Central Africa, Cameroon, Congo (Brazzaville), Congo (Gold) and other countries, in the territory of Congo (Brazzaville) for more than 1000 kilometers.
10. Heilongjiang River (river) Heilongjiang River is one of the great Asian rivers flowing through Mongolia, China and Russia, located in northeast Asia. It is known as Feishui, Heshui, Bathing Water, Wangjian River, Shilikhan Water, etc. in ancient China, Haramu River in Mongolian and Amur River in Russian. The Heilongjiang River has two sources in the north and south, with the south source, the Erguna River, as its source, with a total length of 4440 km, injecting into the Okhotsk Strait in Nikolaevsk, Russia. The total length of the Heilongjiang River is 4440 km (one says 4370 km) from the source of the Hailar River, and about 5498 km calculated with the Kruren River as its source, the Russian-Chinese border river is 3000 km long, the Russian territory is more than 1400 km long, and the basin area is 1.856 million square kilometers. Among them, the basin area in China is 891,000 square kilometers.
