The city with the longest sunshine hours in the world
So, why does Lhasa have longer sunshine hours instead? It turns out that it is because the Lhasa region has particularly interesting rainfall times. More than 80% of the rain time here is between 8pm that night and 8am the next day, which means more night rain and still sunny and clear the day after the rain.
Lhasa has an average total sunshine time of 3005.3 hours per year, in other words, Lhasa has an average of 8 hours and 15 minutes of sun per day. This is almost half as much as in the eastern part of the country at the same latitude, and twice as much as in the Sichuan basin. Lhasa has so much sunshine that it deserves the name "Sunshine City".
