The appearance of golden snub-nosed monkeys
All golden snub-nosed monkeys have very large nostrils and slightly upturned, and their lips are very thick. An adult male Sichuan snub-nosed monkey can reach a body length of 68 cm, while the tail length is not much different, or even longer than the body length.
The habits of golden snub-nosed monkeys
Golden snub-nosed monkeys are omnivorous and will eat many things, including fruits, vegetables, bamboo shoots, mosses, leaves, roots, bark, insects, birds, etc. They usually live in groups and cooperate with each other as humans do. The male monkeys are usually driven out by their fathers when they grow up and are left to live alone.
The golden monkey was listed as one of the endangered species by the IUCN in 2012, and it is also a first-class protected animal in China. Now, with the continuous efforts of Chinese personnel, the species has slowly recovered its ecology, but it cannot relax and needs to continue its efforts.
The famous Chinese TV series Journey to the West, in which Sun Wukong was created based on the golden monkey, shows the popularity of the golden monkey from people's love for the image. Unlike other monkeys, golden monkeys are generally not afraid of people and are very gentle when eating, plus they have a dense golden hair, which makes many people like them after seeing them.
