Israeli farmer Ariel Chahi has grown a strawberry weighing 289 grams, which was recently officially recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as "the heaviest strawberry in the world", which is more than 24 times the average weight of ordinary strawberries.
According to reports, the giant strawberry weighs 289 grams (299 grams including the stem), is 18 centimeters long, 4 centimeters thick, and has a circumference of about 34 centimeters.
"During the strawberry season in late January and early February, the weather is particularly cold," Ariel said. "The strawberry develops slowly after flowering, which causes it to be quite bulky at the fully ripe stage."
It is reported that his farm has grown four giant strawberries, this is the largest of them. The previous record for "the world's heaviest strawberry" was 250 grams, which was planted by Koji Nakao, a farmer in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, in 2015.
